Abstract:
Biolinguistics involves the study of language from a broad perspective that embraces natural sciences, helping us better to understand the fundamentals of the faculty of language. This Handbook offers the most comprehensive state-of-the-field survey of the subject available. A team of prominent scholars working in a variety of disciplines is brought together to examine language development, language evolution and neuroscience, as well as providing overviews of the conceptual landscape of the field. The Handbook includes work at the forefront of contemporary research devoted to the evidence for a language instinct, the critical period hypothesis, grammatical maturation, bilingualism, the relation between mind and brain, and the role of natural selection in language evolution. It will be welcomed by graduate students and researchers in a wide range of disciplines, including linguistics, evolutionary biology and cognitive science.

Cedric Boeckx，加泰罗尼亚高级研究所ICREA研究教授，同时在巴塞罗纳大学语言学系任职。他目前致力于开发新的方法来推进生物语言学项目或认知生物学的研究，并试图在人类的认知模式、大脑、基因组及多个分析层面之间建立联系。
Cedric Boeckx is ICREA Research Professor at the Catalan Institute for Advanced Studies and member of the linguistics department at the University of Barcelona. His research focuses on developing new ways of advancing the biolinguistic program or cognitive biology. He seeks to build linking hypotheses between what we know about our species’ cognitive mode, the brain, the genome, and the many levels of analysis in between.
-Kleanthes K. Grohmann-
Kleanthes K. Grohmann，塞浦路斯大学生物语言学副教授，塞浦路斯习得小组主任。他的主要研究领域为极简理论、比较句法和希腊/塞浦路斯语句法，尤其对生物语言学兴趣浓厚。他的主要著作包括《理解极简主义》、《多产领域:论移位依存的反局域性》和《多产边界 :左向的激进观点》。
Kleanthes K. Grohmann is Associate Professor of Biolinguistics at the University of Cyprus and Director of the Cyprus Acquisition Team. He interests in the minimalist theorizing, comparative syntax and Greek/Cypriot syntax, especially biolinguistics. His many books include Understanding Minimalism, Prolific Domains: On the Anti-Locality of Movement Dependencies and Prolific Peripheries: A Radical View from the Left.
